Jon Edwards Steel Green Initiative

The Jon Edwards Steel has gone "Green" to cut costs, boost our environmental compliance and enhance our reputation. We are aware of the magnitude of the environmental challenges we face locally, regionally, nationally and globally.

The Green Initiative

The threat of escalating energy costs, water restriction, raw material shortages, polluted air and water looms larger than ever. The other reason to “green” our operations; not only does it make good business sense, it quite simply is the right thing to do.

We have taken the following steps to make our business more environmentally friendly:

+ Work within the Guidelines of the LEED Certified Building Program.

+ Conserve Paper by:

  1. Sending approval drawings electronically or use small size paper.
  2. Send As-Builts on electronic computer disc or smaller paper.
  3. Update our software programs to replace paper with electronic files.
  4. View plans electronically for estimating purposes instead of printing on paper.
  5. When a bid becomes a job, use the electronically scanned plans to detail the job.

+ Purchase environmentally friendly office supplies and furniture.

+ Conserve energy.

+ Buy energy efficient office equipment.

+ Use less hazardous cleaning and maintenance procedures.

+ Increase waste recycling:

  1. Paper
  2. Steel
  3. Printer ink cartridges
  4. Aluminum Pop Cans
  5. Plastic bottles, etc.

+ Boost heating and cooling system efficiency, and perform annual energy audits.
